Livio De Marchi was born in Venice where, while still a child, he worked on ornamental sculpture in a Venetian craftman shop and in the meantime he studied art and drawing at the “Accademia di Belle Arti” in Venice.
His activity started there, immediately revealing an unusual capacity to mould materials, which translates in an ironic sensibility which pushes him to make sculptures which, despite perfection in details, maintain a certain spontaneity in their essence.
In his artistic evolution he passed from marble, to bronze, and finally to wood, which will remain his favourite material, as it transmits to him a dynamism that other materials don’t.
After having opened his own studio, Livio De Marchi lets his imagination run free, expressing his inner world, his way of being. Following deep inner evolutions, his ironic ability of perceiving life prevails, and results in this new way of making sculptures.
